A day or two a go a dear friend confessed a sin to me that had nothing to do with me or that should have offended me. This was a great thing. I was sad that my sister had fallen, but more so I was glad of God’s Conviction in her life. She could have held this in but chose to share it and felt that she should and would be in sin for not sharing. This was a conviction for me. How many sins do I hide from the saints and my brothers and sisters that love me . I refuse to recieve the joy God has set before me
John Piper in : When the Darkness will not lift! Chapter 4
“Sin destroys Joy,It offers deceptive delights, but kills in the end. In dealing with our sin , we can make two mistakes. One is to make light of it and the other is to be overwhelmed by it”
I can make light of my sin often, when it is a reproach on my God. I try to hide it but nothing can be hidden from God
” Confessing to God and Man is Sweet Freedom”
Piper later shares, we should not be content to just confess our sins to God, even thought that is one of the things he calls us to do, but we should do as James 5:13 calls us to do.
Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.
What healing and humility we can experience when we confess our sins to one another! My dear friend reminded me of this once again and I am so thankful.
