bigtruths.jpgEvery Christmas, Eric and I try to add to our Children’s library with gospel centered literature. This year I was so excited to find an online bookstore  called Monergism Books that really had a wealth of Gospel centered books and videos for children ( I thought that I was found a treasure, my husband did not know about, little did I know, that he found it long ago and just did not tell me ;p :) )I will share most of our additions after Christmas, but there is one, I can recommend today because it is more for my smaller children who do not read this Blog :) .

When Hunter and Hannah were small we worked with them on the children’s catechisms. I wish we had been a little more diligent than we wore with it but they did learn many basic foundational truths about God through what we did  go through. Well, we used to have allitle booklet that had these truths, but at some point it got lost, which is probably why we stopped doing them :(

While I was on the Monergism site, I remembered that we lost this and that maybe they might have it. I looked up Children’s Catechisms and this book popped up! It is called Big Truths for Little Kids. It contains all the Children’s Catechisms and it has 35 stories to go along with them. It even has a guide to help you teach your children. What I think our family may do, is 1 story a week and work on memorization of the chatechisms on the other days. If you do one story a week and work on them, within a year your child will have a great foundation of Biblical truths stored up  at a young age. How great is that!!!

For those of you that do not want to buy the book, I am going to try and put up some of these catechisms up on a regular basis.  You can work on them with your children, by printing them or placing them on index cards.

If you want to buy the book, Monergism, is offering expedited shipping right now for no charge, so you can have  your order by Christmas. But I believe today is the only day that is in effect :) While there, their are loads of other resources and books for you as well as your children, so look around :) I love C.J. Mahaney’s quote

“Don’t read a book, Build a Library”

God Bless,
